📅 Playlist Building / Weekly Schedule
Creating and managing a weekly schedule in vTask is simple and flexible. Here's how it works:
🛠️ Creating a Weekly Schedule
To begin:
- Add at least one item to the playlist.
- Click Save — this action generates a weekly structure by creating a folder named after your project file in the same location.
Inside this folder, you'll find:
- Seven
.jsonfiles — each named after a day of the week. - Each file contains the playlist for that specific day.
📆 Daily Playlist Management
Next to the "Add Loop" button, you'll see the current day and date displayed.
This corresponds to one of the JSON files in the weekly folder.
- vTask automatically loads the playlist for the current day.
- To manually reload today's playlist, click the looping circle icon next to the "Edit Schedule" button.
🔁 Reminder:
Clicking the looping circle icon will replace the current playlist with the current day's content.
✏️ Editing the Schedule
You have two ways to edit playlists:
🟢 Current Day
- Edit directly in the main playlist view.
📂 Other Days
- Click the "Edit Schedule" button to open the mini playlist editor.
- Use the dropdown menu to switch between days.
- After making changes, save within the mini editor before switching days — otherwise, your changes will be lost.
⏱️ Locking Items
To schedule items at exact times:
- Use the lock check-box next to any playlist item.
- Locked items will retain their time, and subsequent items will auto-adjust to fit around them.
📤 Copying Content Between Days
To duplicate a day's playlist:
- In the mini editor, use the "Save As" option on the save button to export the playlist as a
.tskfile. - To import:
- Click "Add Input" > "Add Media", or
- Drag and drop the
.tskproject file directly into the playlist.
🚀 Going Live
Once your schedule is ready and your playlist is configured:
- Click the Start button to begin live playback.
✅ This will activate the current playlist and begin output across your configured channels.
If the schedule doesn't kick in automatically:
- Click the Retime button to force the timing recalculation and trigger playback.
⚠️ Important:
If your scheduled items are note due to play yet, AutoPlay from folder will activate based on your AutoPlay configuration settings. See AutoPlay Settings for playing from folder
